Join us for a remarkable concert, “From the Ukrainian Frontline with Thanks,” featuring Cultural Forces, the cultural arm of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on Thursday, September 19, at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial!
Immerse yourself in the inspiring performances of seven world-class artists—professional musicians from before the war, who are now serving as active-duty soldiers. This concert is part of their second music tour to express heartfelt gratitude to the United States.

The 60-day tour by Cultural Forces, traveling across the Southeast, South, and West Coast states, expresses gratitude to the American people for their support of Ukraine during these challenging times.
These exceptional musicians, some of Ukraine’s brightest talents, have participated in some of the fiercest battles of the war. Several were wounded but, after recovery, returned to active duty. The group includes two bandura players, an opera singer, a violinist, a pianist, a country singer, and a poet.
1. Mykolai SIERGA is a popular presenter, musician, and poet. In 2013, he hosted Heads and Tails
Travel TV Show followed by a viewing audience of several millions. At the onset of the full-scale
invasion, he joined the 59th Separate Mechanized Brigade and on the wave of his popularity in the
invading country made an appeal to stop the war. Ranked Captain, he was decorated for bravery.
He is the founder of Cultural Forces, an organization that provides for morale and emotional
support of the Armed Forces through culture and arts.
2. Taras STOLIAR is a professional bandura player and soloist of Ukraine’s National Academic Folk
Instruments Orchestra with over 40 years of experience. Awarded the Honored Artist of Ukraine in
2009, he toured over 30 countries of the world. On February 24, 2022, he joined the 112th Brigade,
Territorial Defense Forces, as drone reconnaissance operator and forward observer.
3. Yurii IVASKEVYCH worked as a soloist at the Zaporizhzhya Philharmonic with his own concert
program featuring iconic Ukrainian songs. He volunteered early in the war and served as infantry in
the 110th Brigade, Territorial Defense Forces. On a combat mission, he was wounded and partially
lost his leg. After surgeries and rehabilitation, he returned to military duty.
4. Olha RUKAVISHNIKOVA started playing violin and piano at the age of 4 and had her first
performance at the National Philharmonic of Ukraine at the age of 5. She is a laureate of
international violin competitions and holds a black belt in karate. She joined the Armed Forces on
February 24, 2022. On a combat mission, she was wounded and lost an eye. After recovering, she
returned to military duty.
5. Mykhailo OLIINYK is a pianist, composer, and Stanislav Lyudkevych Prize Laureate. He wrote music
for various artists, movies, and commercials for the audience in over 20 countries. In 2023, he
joined the 59th Separate Mechanized Brigade. Over the past year and half of service, he
participated in over 600 cultural events at the frontline.
6. Oleksandr BULICH (Sasha Boole) is a musician, writer, journalist, the author of the dystopian novel
Ivy. Considered as one of the most touring Ukrainian artists abroad, he performed in over 20
countries. He is a skilled guitar, banjo, and harmonica player. Ranked Captain, he joined the 22nd
Separate Infantry Battalion at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. He participated in the Kharkiv
and Sumy military campaigns.
7. Liubov SHIPILIUK is a bandura player, singer, and songwriter. Civilian member of Cultural Forces,
she graduated from the R. Glier Kyiv Municipal Academy of Music in 2024. She spent her
graduation year with Cultural Forces on the frontline having finished her academic studies over
distance.
