Dear Supporters of Ukraine,
This year, the USUA Veterans Team will participate in the MCM for the first time!
The team aims to raise awareness about Ukraine’s fight for freedom and honor the Ukrainian heroes in russia’s ongoing genocidal war against Ukraine.
Please join us in greeting our Ukrainian veterans—Karapchuk Volodymyr (“Shved”), Oleh (“Turyst”), and Serhii R.—as they run the MCM 10K to honor war heroes alongside American veterans and military personnel!
We will also welcome other Ukrainian teams of veterans, including V10 (which we have supported since their first participation in the MCM in 2016) and the Veterans Team of Revived Soldiers Ukraine!

More information about Ukrainian veterans Karapchuk Volodymyr and Oleh from the USUA Veterans Team:
Karapchuk Volodymyr, Call Sign “Shved,” participated in combat operations in Luhansk from 2014 to 2017 as part of a sabotage and reconnaissance group. After his service, he moved to Sweden and was one month away from obtaining citizenship. However, he left everything behind when russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine began, returning to defend his country. From 2022 to 2024, he served in “Kraken,” a Ukrainian military unit formed in response to the russian invasion, operating in the Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Donetsk directions under the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense.

Oleh (“Turyst”) defended Ukraine in the 80th Air Assault Brigade from 2014 to 2016.
Ruslan Popov, a Ukrainian veteran and USUA volunteer, will run his 4th full MCM (42K) marathon this year! Ruslan is a Junior Sergeant in the Airborne Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was the commander of a grenadier unit. During the initial stage of the russian-Ukrainian war in 2014-2015, he fought in Sector A, including Krymske, Triokhizbenka, Shchastia, Stanytsia Luhanska, Pobieda, and other settlements in Luhansk Oblast.

Four volunteers from the USUA Veterans Team will run in the 49th MCM 10K:
– Nadiya Shaporynska, president of US Ukrainian Activists, will participate in the MCM 10K for the 4th time since 2019 to support Ukraine, as well as Ukrainian and American veterans, Marine Corps members, and other military personnel.
