Event Report: USUA 10th Anniversary Charity Gala for Ukraine
What a truly unforgettable evening we shared!
We are deeply grateful to all the guests, Ukrainian veterans, ambassadors to the United States, members of the diplomatic corps, and leaders of local Ukrainian-American organizations who joined us on February 13 at our 10th Anniversary Charity Gala.
Together, we celebrated the richness of Ukrainian culture and supported US Ukrainian Activists’ humanitarian programs for Ukraine at La Maison Française at the French Embassy in the U.S. — a venue that symbolizes liberty, culture, and the enduring friendship between nations.
With full hearts, we are honored to share that $22,043 in gross proceeds were raised during this unforgettable night of music, unity, and solidarity with Ukraine. From this amount, $10,000 will be directed to support the Hospitallers, the courageous Ukrainian battalion of front-line paramedics who risk their lives every day to save others. The remaining funds will be directed to our other vital programs serving Ukraine.
Our sincere appreciation goes to the French Embassy for so beautifully hosting the event and for their support throughout the event’s organization. We would like to give a special thank you to His Excellency, Ambassador of France Laurent Bili, and to Marie-Hélène Zavala, Director of Events at La Maison Française at the Embassy of France in the USA, for their exceptional leadership and dedication in making this evening possible!
Our sincere thanks to His Excellency, Ambassador of France Laurent Bili, and to Deputy Ambassador of Ukraine Denys Sienik for their inspiring opening remarks and steadfast leadership.
His Excellency, Ambassador of France Laurent Bili, reflected on the power of culture and solidarity in his remarks, stating:
“The music you will hear this evening reflects the incredible vitality of Ukrainian culture, the culture of a nation for which France has great admiration… Here in Washington this evening, we are thrilled to do our part to help more people become acquainted with Ukrainian culture — and especially its music. Thank you for joining us tonight. Thank you for standing with Ukraine.”
Deputy Ambassador of Ukraine Denys Sienik, speaking on behalf of Ambassador Olha Stefanishyna, warmly congratulated the team of US Ukrainian Activists and Nadiya Shaporynska on their 10th anniversary, wishing the organization many more years of impact and service.
In his powerful remarks, he stated:
“We gather not only for music, but also for something deeper: for resilience, for memories, for dignity… These days, Russian missiles deliberately target the energy infrastructure in Ukraine, trying to plunge Ukrainian cities into darkness and freezing cold, but they will not freeze our souls, they will not freeze our identity, they will not freeze our culture. When Ukrainian musicians perform, when Ukrainian composers are played, when audiences stand in solidarity, it is a declaration that Ukraine endures.”
We are also deeply thankful to Ambassador Olha Stefanishyna and Deputy Ambassador Denys Sienik of the Embassy of Ukraine in the USA / Посольство України в США for their valued support, and especially to Kateryna /Katja Smagliy, Counselor for Public Diplomacy, for her invaluable role in ensuring the success of the event.
A warm thank you goes to our dedicated volunteers!
Together, every presence, every contribution, and every note of music became part of something greater — a celebration of culture, resilience, and hope.
Thank you for standing with Ukraine!
