ABOUT US UKRAINIAN ACTIVISTS (USUA)
US Ukrainian Activists (USUA) is a volunteer-based 501(c)(3) U.S. nonprofit charitable organization committed to supporting Ukraine, its culture, and its people in their fight for liberty, independence, democracy, and a promising prosperous future.
We are dedicated to helping save lives in Ukraine and providing essential assistance to those in need to defend themselves, survive, recover, rebuild, and receive other necessary support.
Beyond humanitarian aid, we raise awareness, advocate for Ukraine, and promote its rich cultural legacy.
Since March 2014, when russia launched its hybrid war in Eastern Ukraine, our dedicated volunteers have been at the forefront—advocating for Ukraine and delivering vital aid from the U.S.
In 2015, Nadiya Shaporynska, Founder and President, created the name US Ukrainian Activists (USUA) and designed the logo for our volunteer team. Over time, our group evolved into a fully recognized nonprofit organization with tax-exempt status under EIN 85-0784959.
Today, our team continues to stand firmly in support of Ukraine, committed to making a lasting impact during this challenging time.

HIGHLIGHTS OF OUR MAIN ADVOCACY EVENTS
Since January 15, 2022, prior to the onset of the full-scale invasion, our president, Nadiya Shaporynska, initiated megaphone rallies in Washington, D.C., to support Ukraine and prevent the escalation of russia’s war in Eastern Ukraine. During these rallies, we chanted messages directed at the U.S. government at the White House and the russian government at the russian embassy, contributing to our ongoing advocacy efforts for Ukraine. The first megaphone rally took place at the White House on January 15, followed by a rally at the russian embassy on January 23, and another rally at the White House on January 29. We then used megaphones during the march from the Lincoln Memorial to the White House, following the large event at the Lincoln Memorial on February 20, 2022, to commemorate the Heavenly Hundred and call for support for Ukraine and the prevention of a full-fledged genocidal war against Ukraine and its people.
After russia’s full-scale invasion began on February 24, 2022, US Ukrainian Activists held daily rallies at the White House for the first 1.5 years. They then transitioned to weekly rallies for another year, until August 24, 2024, and have since held monthly rallies to continue supporting Ukraine at the White House.
In August 2022, US Ukrainian Activists established the tradition of celebrating Ukraine’s Independence Day in Washington, D.C., and have proudly organized a large three-part event each year for three consecutive years (2022, 2023, 2024). The celebration begins with an official program featuring speakers—leaders of D.C.-based Ukrainian-American organizations and representatives from diverse cultural communities supporting Ukraine. The official part is followed by a march from the White House to the Taras Shevchenko Memorial, culminating in Ukraine’s Independence Day Concert, where we honor Ukraine’s rich culture and heritage.
Since February 2023, for three consecutive years, USUA has launched and become one of the main co-organizers of a mass rally at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., to commemorate the anniversary of the beginning of russia’s genocidal full-fledged war against Ukraine.
Following the mass rally at the Lincoln Memorial, US Ukrainian Activists have organized a march in support of Ukraine for three consecutive years, proceeding to the residence of the russian ambassador in Washington, D.C. USUA independently organized this march every year.
In addition, since 2022, we have been organizing sunflower planting events across the war crimes russian embassy.
